  • Montserrat booklet for children about litter and marine impacts

    A consortium of organisations concerned with marine conservation around Montserrat has published an illustrated book for children on the marine ecosystem dangers posed by litter. Message in a Bottle was launched by Environment Minister Claude Hogan on 14 October 2019. The article has a link to download the booklet. UKOTCF is pleased to have, at the request of the Government of Montserrat, facilitated several years ago the bringing together of partners to initiate the overall programme.

  • BAT Virtual Tour added

    We are pleased to announce that a virtual tour for the British Antarctic Territory now joins the recently new ones for the Isle of Man, Cayman Islands, South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands, and the Cayman Islands and the others already available on the web-site.   • UKOT&CD Ministers sign agreement

    UKOT & CD Governments sign agreement on environmental co-operation.

    Acknowledging that the natural environment has no boundaries, Ministers and other representatives from the UK family of small islands met during the Wilder Islands conservation conference hosted by Alderney, and agreed the Blue Island Charter. UKOTCF, as secretariat to the Environment Ministers Council, is pleased to have been able to facilitate progress, working particularly with HM Government of Gibraltar which initiated the process and the States of Alderney which hosted the signing.

    Turks and Caicos Islands

    Superb wetlands where the land meets the sea: A superb complex of natural coral reefs, tidal flats, mangroves and marshlands provide a haven for wildlife, and the natural basis of fisheries and tourism. The islands provide a home for at least 14 unique plants, reptiles (including the rock iguana), and an unknown number of invertebrates, as well as the vulnerable reddish egret and West Indian whistling duck.   • Montserrat

    The Caribbean's Emerald Isle: Despite its small size, Montserrat supports at least 132 tree species, 59 species of birds and 13 mammals. The Montserrat oriole is found nowhere else. Also restricted to Montserrat are the galliwasp and anole. The endangered 'mountain chicken' (a frog) is found only on Montserrat and Dominica. Several other species are restricted to Montserrat and some nearby islands. Read More

  • St Helena

    St Helena's isolated S Atlantic position has given rise to an unusual & remarkable land & marine flora & fauna. The Island is home to 45 plants that occur nowhere else and is a global hotspot for invertebrate diversity, with around 460 endemic species. The marine environment supports diverse marine life, including many endemics, and several charismatic migratory species including humpback whales, whale sharks and turtles. Read more
