About us Our partners Member and Associate Organisations Turks and Caicos National Trust The Turks and Caicos National Trust is a membership, non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to the preservation of the cultural, historic and natural heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It was founded in 1992, after the passage of enabling legislation by the TCI Government. The Turks and Caicos National Trust is governed by a Council, which includes representatives from all the inhabited islands in the TCI. The enabling legislation gives the Trust a wide variety of powers, among which are the powers to: identify, investigate, classify, protect and preserve any area, site, building, structure, or object of cultural, historic or natural significance; hold property in trust for the future, including the powers to declare such property inalienable and to provide public access; create a Heritage Register; promote public awareness through education; to preserve and propagate wildlife; preserve and promote the National Treasures. UKOTCF worked closely with TCNT for over a decade from the mid-1990s to help it rebuild successfully, although later set-backs need further work to overcome.
