YUNGA Montserrat

Formed in 2009, the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) is a partnership between United Nations agencies, civil society organisations and other entities that work with children and young people.
YUNGA acts as a gateway for children and youth from around the world to participate in the activities and initiatives of the United Nations. YUNGA provides children and young people with opportunities to have a greater role in society, raise awareness of environmental and social issues and influence positive behaviour changes.

YUNGA Montserrat is a partnership lead by the Montserrat National Trust between organisations across the island which organise environmental events and/or initiatives. This includes the college, schools and youth groups. They enable young people on Montserrat to enjoy, learn and care for the natural environment.

The YUNGA Badges & the Sustainable Development Goals

YUNGA has developed a series of badges based on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Young people complete these badges and think about how they can change their behaviour for the better. On Montserrat events and initiatives are being developed in order to work towards the YUNGA Biodiversity badge.

How to get a YUNGA Biodiversity Badge?

There is no time limit for completing the badge. We hope that you enjoy attending environmental events on the island of Montserrat.

Young children in primary or infant school can complete this badge with the help of an adult.
