Lady Dace McCoy Ground (1947-2025)

UKOTCF is saddened to announce that Dace Ground passed away on the 31st October, after a short illness.

Dace has been a stalwart of nature conservation for many decades and she will be greatly missed.

A full tribute will be paid to Dace in UKOTCF’s Forum News this month.

We were incredibly sad to hear the recent news of Dace’s passing. Dace was a remarkable person and we are going to miss her greatly. Dace gave so much of herself to others and to causes she cared about. She made everyone feel included and listened to.

Dace guided the Forum through some really difficult times. She offered support, space, wisdom, and instilled a strong belief to keep going. She helped us stand firm for what mattered, even if it would be difficult or unpopular. She never shied away from fighting for nature and local communities in the UKOTs.

Many fellow conservationists, across the Caribbean UKOTs and beyond, will no doubt have felt the same warmth and inspiration from time spent working or being with Dace; whether they were just starting out in their careers or joining a team, including as part of the Forum’s network. I know that they will all keep Dace’s voice alive, and keep striving for the world she believed in. On behalf of UKOTCF, we want to say thank you Dace; for everything.
