General Resources

Whether you’re a professional landscape designer, a conservation-minded gardener, or simply someone with a patch of outdoor space and a passion for nature, this Montserrat-specific resource hub has something for you. Dive into our illustrated garden plans, species-rich planting guides, and dedicated information sheets on pollinators and native grasses — all designed to make biodiversity-friendly gardening accessible and inspiring.

Explore the Biodiversity & Well-being Toolkit to discover how green spaces can nurture both wildlife and human health, and browse our practical management options document to help you plan, maintain, and evolve your space over time. From sweeping landscape projects to humble back-yard transformations, these resources give you the knowledge, confidence, and creative spark to make every growing space count for people and planet alike. Information contained in the resources was informed by consultations held during the first part of the project. Specialist information was provided by the team including: botanists, data analysts, educators, zoologists, historians and many others both on Montserrat and internationally. All illustrations were created by Lizzie Harper. The Field Studies Council undertook most design elements.

Thirty popular medicinal plants from Montserrat

Management Options Booklet

Building on previous work of the Montserrat National Trust to document traditional use of plants on Montserrat, this booklet includes 30 popular medicinal plants with full colour images, descriptions and uses. The short-list for the booklet was created with input from the community, particularly the elders. The book can be purchased online or at the Trust gift shop.

Early in the project, several community meetings were held to capture information on  some of the challenges and solutions to sustainability on Montserrat. Young persons were also key in understanding what practical efforts every person could do to contribute towards protecting the planet and well-being. Click on the image to see the booklet in full
