UK Overseas Territories Biodiversity Strategy Published

The publication of the UK Overseas Territories Biodiversity Strategy builds on the Environment Charter process in 2001.

The strategy sets out six goals to:

  1. reconnect people with nature;
  2. develop skills and talent;
  3. maximise opportunities for funding, partnerships, and collaboration;
  4. strengthen and implement management and regulatory frameworks;
  5. enhance environmental resilience; and
  6. champion the benefits of nature.

Consultations on the strategy began in 2023 and were extensive, involving governments, NGOs, researchers, and local communities across the UKOTs.

The resulting document provides a framework for biodiversity conservation across the territories and highlights priorities for research, management, and collaboration.
